Effective August 31, 2026.
These are the terms for using Pops. Using it means you accept them. They’re written to be read, so please read them.
Pops is operated by POPS.golf (“we,” “us”). Questions: hello@pops.golf.
Pops is software for running a golf event. It keeps a field, runs a draft, records scores hole by hole, works out standings and league results, tracks power-ups, runs a cornhole bracket, and makes jokes at your expense.
Clubs are set up by hand, by us, on request. There is no self-service sign-up.
Two kinds of user, and the difference matters throughout:
There are none today. Pops is currently free, and set up by invitation. If that changes, we will say so clearly in advance and no one will be charged without agreeing to it first.
This is the most important paragraph in this document.
Pops does not process, hold, transmit, escrow, or transfer money. Ever. It has no payment processor, no merchant account, no card handling and no stored value.
What Pops does is keep a record of what a group of golfers has agreed among themselves. If your event plays skins, runs a pot, has an entry fee, or pays out a marker ladder, Pops can record the result and total up who owes whom. That is bookkeeping — the same function as a notepad in a golf bag, with better arithmetic.
Everything that follows from that:
Don’t:
The shared password is a real constraint on what we can do about misuse: because there are no player accounts, we cannot ban an individual. Enforcement is at the event level — we can change a password or shut off access — and past that, it’s your club manager’s problem to solve socially. Worth knowing before you rely on us to police your group.
You keep whatever rights you have in what you enter. You give us permission to store it, process it and display it inside Pops so the software can work. That’s it — we claim no ownership and we won’t use your content elsewhere.
You are responsible for what you enter, and you confirm you have the right to enter it.
Roasts and trash talk. Pops makes fun of people. That’s a feature.
As currently built: the roast lines are content we or a club supply, not lines players write about each other. The player-facing trash-talk composer is switched off. So there is, at present, no player-authored content to moderate.
What we reserve regardless: we do not pre-screen content, and we are not obliged to monitor it — but we may remove or disable anything, at any time, at our discretion, without notice and without explanation. If a joke in Pops has landed badly, tell your club manager first — they can change or exempt it themselves — and write to hello@pops.golf if that doesn’t fix it.
If you run a club on Pops, this section is your obligation and it is the one we care most about.
You enter other people’s information: names, and sometimes email addresses, phone numbers and handicaps. You collected it. Not us. You are the one who decided to put it in here.
So you agree that:
If a claim reaches us because of information you entered without the right to enter it, you’ll cover us for it — reasonably, and to the extent it’s actually your doing.
Pops is a small operation running on shared infrastructure. It will go down sometimes. We do not promise uptime, and there is no service level agreement.
Say it plainly: do not run anything you can’t afford to lose on it. Scoring is a phone in a golf cart, and phones lose signal, run out of battery, and get dropped in ponds. Keep a paper card if the result matters. We are not liable for a lost round, a lost score, a blown draft, or a scoring dispute caused by the software being unavailable or wrong.
We take reasonable care and we make no promise about it. Keep your own copy of anything you’d be upset to lose.
PLEASE READ THIS PARAGRAPH.
POPS IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED AND STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT POPS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY SCORE, STANDING, HANDICAP, PAYOUT FIGURE OR RESULT IT PRODUCES IS ACCURATE.
Some places don’t allow all of that to be disclaimed. Where that’s true, this paragraph applies as far as it legally can and no further.
PLEASE READ THIS PARAGRAPH TOO.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO POPS — WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE WERE WARNED IT MIGHT HAPPEN.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO POPS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). TODAY, FOR EVERY USER, (A) IS ZERO.
THIS LIMIT APPLIES SPECIFICALLY AND WITHOUT EXCEPTION TO ANY CLAIM ABOUT MONEY: A DISPUTED BET, A WRONG PAYOUT FIGURE, A MISCALCULATED POT, AN UNPAID DEBT, OR A TRANSFER MADE THROUGH A THIRD-PARTY PAYMENT APP. NO MONEY MOVES THROUGH POPS AND WE ARE NOT A PARTY TO YOUR SETTLEMENT.
Some places limit how far this can go. Where that’s true, it applies as far as it legally can.
Pops runs on services provided by others — hosting, database, email, sign-in providers, mapping, payment apps you link out to. We’re not responsible for them, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
You can stop using Pops whenever you like. A manager who wants their club removed writes to hello@pops.golf.
We can suspend or terminate access — a club’s, a manager’s, or an event’s — at any time, with or without notice, if these terms are broken, if we’re required to, or if we simply stop running the service. If we shut Pops down, we’ll give managers reasonable notice and a chance to get their data out.
Sections 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13 and 14 survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Indiana, and both sides consent to that venue.
